Specialty Minerals

Kyanite

Product Description

Kyanite is a high-alumina silicate mineral (Al₂SiO₅) characterized by excellent refractory properties and high-temperature volume stability. The material appears as a light blue to grey powder with outstanding thermal performance.

When heated above 1350 °C, kyanite transforms into mullite and silica, resulting in a volume expansion that enhances the density and strength of refractory products. This unique property makes it an ideal raw material for advanced refractory applications.

Main Applications

  • Raw material for refractory bricks and castables
  • Foundry molds and kiln furniture
  • Additive for ceramics and spark plugs
  • Ingredient for mullite formation in high-temperature products
